When I went to look for a lever-action in .357 back in 1981, I was told the caliber wasn't legal for deer in Colorado, so I got a .44 Mag Marlin. I've never even looked to see if it's still not legal. Obviously, within its range, the .357 will do the job.

I don't know why, but to me, the barrel on a blued Redhawk always looks shorter than the same length barrel on a stainless Redhawk. Some strange visual effect or something about the photos or something just makes them appear different to me.

The bend is very slight, just a few thousandths over the length of the barrel. The ejector rod housing screw won't be affected; it won't do anything different than it did before. As far as looks, would you really prefer a front sight bent up, filed down and otherwise mangled?

No, they are entirely different actions. Look at them side-by-side and you'll see.
