Re: Carbide rifle dies
sixgun, I've read that .45 Colt-chambered firearms, both long & hand, routinely are bored to the high side of the chamber dimension spec, (.492"), and the rifles are even bored slightly cone-shaped to aid in feeding. If that's true, I should be neck-sizing my brass as well. Regarding your s...

Re: problems with 357 Rossi 92
I followed Steve's DVD to slick up my .45 LSI Puma. While I had it apart, I filed back that little "backstop" at the rear of the cartridge lifter & now my 310GR handloads with a LOT of bullet out of the case, & crimping in the crimp groove, will feed from the tube...no problem. And...

JkMa, you're right about the need for drilling & tapping to mount the receiver sight, unless it was already done before it left the factory, which I doubt. Do you know of a reputable gunsmith in your area who you can trust to do the work, if need be? I think it'll pay off handsomely for ya. P.S....

Since you're giving up 4" of sight radius right off the bat, (that's an American slang baseball expression, BTW), as opposed to a regular carbine-length barrel, (20"), on that trapper, I think you'd gain it back by going to a Williams Fool-Proof receiver sight mounted at the rear. The incr...

Being talked up as an effective deer-size game getting cartridge before it's sent to the field isn't the same as proving itself once it does get to the field. Welcome to the forum, JkMa. If I were you, I'd snap that Miroku up in a heartbeat! This offering has two aspects I'd like to have, namely a pistol-grip stock, (it's very rare on '92s) AND it's a take-down model. BTW, the Mirokus are EXCELLENT quality. I used to have a Browning B-92 in .44, which I h...

Re: 250 gr in a 92 Winchester feeding issues, and load data.
Let me offer a possible alternative fix to this problem, which will eliminate the dangers of high pressure, the need to shorten cases & retain crimping in the desired crimp groove. There is a little thing I refer to as a "backstop" which is integral with the cartridge carrier or lifter...

They fire from a closed-bolt position. Go to YouTube, type AK-47 in the search box & select Hickock 45's vid on it. You'll see him rack the bolt rearward, let go of the handle & it'll slam forward to strip a cart from the mag, then fire. To me that's a tell-tale sign it fires from a closed b...

That is one sweet rifle! The reason your original chamber was so sloppy is the mfg'rs are chronically boring them to the high side of the spec, which I understand is .492". The diameter of the .45 case at the web area is .476". Some say it's for faster feeding thru a rifle design never int...
