The .45's they shot with the Hornady critical defense rounds did exactly what they were designed to do. expand dramatically at close range. As far as penetration I'd bet that even the old 900fps round nose 255grain bullet would amaze these "experts".

Scott, are these soft enough to expand from the Colt? They could be a real defense round or loaded a little hotter and shot thru a Rifle and be Great for Deer at woods ranges. Bear Creek has quite an array of bullets for sale. Thanks for the post.

The one for Me that "got away" about ten years ago was a Savage model 24 . Like new in the box .357 mag over 20 ga. It would have been the perfect deer/plinker here in Ohio. It is the only one I ever saw, I blinked and it was gone. Durn.

I have looked at a few in the last six months. way better fit and finish, worked the lever as well and seemed pretty smooth. The local farm store has them for around $700.00, sometimes with a $75.00 of coupon.
