The biggest improvement was cycling the lever. There was no resistance at the end of the lever stroke. Shoots good!

Re: Did the guy with the 94....
The problem I was trying to fix was the fact that I needed to squeeze the lever hard to disengage the lever safety. This was on a 94 in 307 Win, which needless to say I never found a magic load for. It never shot better than 2 MOA. Which is fine for deer hunting.

Re: Did the guy with the 94....
I fixed this by using a smaller diameter pin. I used the shank of a drill bit for a pin of the correct diameter. It was only a 1/64 smaller that the factory pin and it made all the difference.

I convinced him to buy a BLR. To this day he comments how great a gun it is. He is a advid deer hunting an...

I looked at the Barnes 160 gr and you will need to make a dummy load to see how AOL will work. I think you will need to loose the tip to do it. I can send you a few pieces of 307 brass to use. Then if you want to send me a dummy round I can run it through my 356 to see how it functions.

You need a FFL if you take possesion of someone elses firearm. You will need to record every firearm that comes and goes, serial number and owners name and address . It is not reported to the ATF , but the informaion is availble for inspection if requested.

The parts auction has all the internal parts you need and more. You could go that way then resell the parts you don't need. But you will probably get the bug and then start picking up other parts guns to fix. At guns shows levers go for about $20 , the bolt $30 -$40 . Lower tangs $35-$40. Plus you n...

I like the way you think! It will be affordable because you should be able to use 338 Federal dies and JES can use a 338 federal head space guage. The bullet will be set deeper because of AOL. So you will loose case capacity for powder. Starting loads for the 338 Federal might be your maximum. I not...

Grafs's has piles of plated bullets for the 351 and 401 Winchester, so bullets aren't a issue. I use 357 brass and dies for the 351. I first turned the rim down by putting the brass in a drill press and using a file. Then I bought a mini lathe and it is easier now. The 357 brass is a little short bu...

Angle Ejects are milled receivers while post 64 top ejects are investment cast. Cutting the receiver away for angle eject would affect the structural integrity. Not worth the hassle plenty of angle ejects out there.
The extrator is cut at about 1 o'clock in the barrel instead of 12 o'clock.
