I got my first 1911 from an uncle for $80 (his Marine-issue regiment pistol) in 1970. I don't know how many I have owned since then, but I currently have several in a few calibers. I carried them in the State Police Undercover, and in Combat in the Army, ALWAYS Condition ONE.

He is a Southern Ohio Police officer. When I started with the State Police in the late 70s, we still had Model 94 Saddel Ring carbines in 30 WCF in our lockers.

If you don't like the loop over the barrel, you can use the Uncle Mike's front sling mount, which clamps on the mag tube as a two-piece.

Good information, I have been using thermals from the 90s on, but have not seen the newer garments.
These are photos of thermals set up you could see in 3D to judge distance, a company I was VP of developed in 2010-13.
