Re: Marble Arms Tang Sight on a Winchester 1892
it is nice to be able to post photos. I dont have that luxury. I am sorry, I forgot to clarify my sight recommendation does not have an oval hole. I just made an edit in big cap letters. I am trying to help the OP even if its a year later. But I screwed up my post and I do not have a hosting service...

Re: Marble Arms Tang Sight on a Winchester 1892
I just installed an Improved Model Marbles windage tang sight on a Win 1892. This is a New Haven original manufacture gun. I cannot post photos so all i can do is list the parts. And explain in words. It is necessary to dis-assemble the base and re-assemble with the piece the holds the upright rever...

After some research it turns out S&W plans to offer three nostalgia models without the lock. THAT IS ALL !!! The lock is not gone and we are expected to pay a big premium to delete something nobody wants in the first place. (I guess, I don't know the price) $979.00 retail is what i saw for the ...

Re: Jumping crimp
No comment on the ammo except to say 300gr 454 is a lot of power. Since the 454 topic is on the table, I have studied the ballistic tables and convinced myself there is no advantage with the 460. The 454 seems to be seriously under appreciated as hand cannons go. It is incredibly powerful in a norma...

Re: Converting a Marlin 1894 .32 H&R Mag to ..327 Fed. Mag
I think it is a bad idea simply because it is un necessary. A person can easily purchase, trim and handload 327 brass to shoot in the Marlin and any 327 handgun. It is no different than shooting 38 special in a 357 which almost everybody does. And 38 special can be loaded very +P, if desired. If I w...

Re: Europeans and their 9.3 combo rifles
Some of the #1s were 9.3x 74 also, I've pinned for one but I'm in no rush to buy one as I doubt I'm going to Africa anytime soon and my 338WM or 375 H&H have it covered. Ruger did a 450/400 and 450NE. I got the 450/400 and I am very pleased with that. It is surprisingly manageable. Not nearly a...

Re: Europeans and their 9.3 combo rifles
Seems to me Ruger made limited runs of the 77 MK-II and the #1 in 9.3x62 a few years back . I had to check that and they did! Ruger African with woods stock. Very nice gun. I am not shopping online or looking hard but if I saw a CZ, Brno, Zastava and now Ruger 77, it would get a serious look. I don...

Re: Europeans and their 9.3 combo rifles
I dont appreciate the drillings either but there must be a reason. I wonder if these sell in the countries that have strict limits on gun ownership. It cannot be to save money, because they look very well made. Or do they still make these? Today I would think a single barrel gun with multiple barrel...

Whatever you did would be a lot easier to just buy new empty hulls. You can find plastic 3" or brass 2 1/2". Might even be a source for Brass 3". Brass having greater internal volume. I think to load you can get by with a hand priming tool and a low cost scale. Two items, short money....

I know this is simply stating (or restating) the obvious, but I think it worth saying. Given adequate shot size and power, How a shotgun patters is all the counts. The ONLY reason for more pellets is to get a get a better pattern. If the OP can add 1/10 oz more shot, he then has to determine if this...

Even with the reduced velocity it still had full expansion. It did not penetrate both sides but the slug was found caught in the hide on the opposite side. No tracking was involved. I think this is a good bullet. My initial point was a hard cast with 100% pass threw is not ideal. She got the full e...

Re: Interesting comparison between the .44 Magnum and .44-40
The higher energy combined with controlled expansion of jacket bullets imparts more tissue damage than a solid. It seems fair to point out a poorly selected jacketed bullet can under perform in a way no solid will ever fail. But a properly loaded and designed JSP in a less well placed shot may still...

Veeman, that is three nice big levers! If I had any influence at Miruko or Uberti I would get them going on a 50-100 in an 1886 setup like your 76 in 45-75 but pistol grip and rubber butt plate. And they could stamp it 50-110 as long as it had the 50-100 twist rate for more powerful 50-100 loads.
