Re: S&W 1854 Lever Action is Now in .45-70
If the 1854 could handle the bigger magnums I would think they would have all ready have done it. You Look like a young Man so why not Go For it and Go Big.? Here is a reasonable Spike Driver. https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/rifles/big-horn-armory/big-horn-armory-lever-action...

S&W 1854 Lever Action is Now in .45-70
I got a cool email from KyGunCo saying that the 1854 is now available in .45-70. I know a lot of people want something in 500 Mag and that it seem that would be asking alot but I'm holding out for a 460 Mag. I know Big Horn has theirs but they are so expensive. Do you think these new 1854 could surv...

Re: Ruger 70906 Trapper 30-30 (Marlin 16" SS Laminate *No Rail)
I've been wondering if the 16 inch barrels were good enough for 150 yards. I had been holding out for a blued steel version with a threaded 20 inch barrel but if I can find the actual velocities for 170 grain loads from a 16 inch, I can put together a good idea of if the Trapper lengths are worth an...

Re: 30-30 on FUR
Maybe look to see if anyone had duplicated the old Short Range loads that used the 117 grain lead bullets. I'm pretty sure that's what those loads were for. I'm thinking some Trail Boss might be in order if you happen to have any. Hunter's Supply seems to make some 115 grain cast though they seem to...

I think this is an excellent idea. So many good online articles have been lost already, the castpics articles were quite useful and are now unobtainable for exampme. My question is how long does the internet archive site keep stuff? Is there an expedient way to capture those articles in a way that ...

Old Gun Domain Respository
With LASC and Dark Canyon going down recently, it's got my worried about these articles for future generations. I'm not exactly old and got started with the more traditional side of shooting about 2019 (my early 30's). Watching those domains go down bothers me. Thankfully the Wayback Machine is a no...

Sounds like I need to start printing off stuff. That's another page I used to visit a lot of. Thankfully the Wayback Machine is doing it's job though the last save was last year.

I have a Remington era Marlin 1894 CST that I've been using factory loaded Remington 158 gr SJHP which worked well for deer in 2023. I have several pre-made cast bullets such as the Slippery Bullets 105 TFP that I made super light loads for subsonic suppressor plinking. They also shot okay from a re...

Re: Anyone here use an Air Fryer...?
I can say from experience that I love having an air fryer. The biggest advantage is how it cooks compared to a microwave and the speed (thanks to it being smaller than an oven) compared to a regular oven. The biggest advantage comes in from specific foods being cooked or reheated vs the microwave. F...

Thank you for going with a dedicated red dot mount instead of just doing picatinny rail. I drives me nuts when people do that. There are dedicated mounts if you look long enough on the internet. That's a good looking build.

Not sure what gun you are shooting these in, but if it is rated for +P you can go up to 6.2 grains. They are being launched from the thing on the right. The goal is quietness and cheapness. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f9/2c/4b/f92c4bff19e4edb341a68ce16120f8b8.jpg I followed the Hodgdon RLDC info...

I tried to grab a bottle of Titegroup from the local Academy but they were out. On the way back from our 4th of July vacation, we stopped at the Bass Pro in Lawrenceville. Re: Light Loads - Unique vs Winchster 244 - Questions
Try TiteGroup for "cat sneeze" loads. Not supposed to be position sensitive. Also works good in 223 with a 70 gr. cast bullet at about 1450 fps. Glenn Titegroup was on my list of powders to play with. Sounds like I just need to buy both and keep on testing. I wish we could get Trail Boss ...

I'm back to doing research for light plinking loads for various calibers again. For example, a small game load for ...

Re: What Are You Hunting with Your Levergun...
I hunt deer and good times. The Marlin 1894 CST in .357 Magnum is my sort of working gun these days. I started hunting whitetail years ago with a Win 94 in .30-30 but made the switch last season to the .357 Magnum until I can finalize a new Marlin .30-30 build. The Remington .357 Mag HTP 158 gr SJHP...

Winchester 94 in Need of A Tune Up
I've had a 70's era Winchester 94 in .30-30 for a while now and it's been a bit of a saga in terms of getting it into a useful condition.
