Re: Grandpa's Rifle ... and it has a lever!

That is a special gun for sure, Jim. J. Stevens and Son made a lot of "utility" guns back before 1915. They were tools for the common people. I have my Great-Grandpa's old J Stevens 16 ga single shot that he used around the farm. That gun had to put game on the table as well and it is very...

Re: Broken/stuck 22 short case

When you get to fixing the loose tube remember the magazine tube "dovetail" on Winchester barrels is a rotary dovetail, not a linear dovetail like the front sight, rear sight, and forend tenon have! Many is the Winchester I had to fix because the owner tried pounding the rotary dovetail s...

Re: Broken/stuck 22 short case

Great solution. Now the question is WHY/ HOW did said case part company...? I can't see it was an over pressure since the case capacity is so small... headslace excessive? Maybe a NO-GO & FIELD gauge is in order. If itis in spec for headspace and was my rifle I think I would polish the chamber....

Well, I just came in out of the shop working on this project to give Ya'll the good news. I tried all of the suggestions given on here except the 22 bullet that was suggested today. None worked. Yesterday I had the idea they I would find me a pin punch or something similar sized .224 and I would try...

Re: Broken/stuck 22 short case

Thanks for the replies, guys. Those are good ideas. I will start with the penetrating oil and brush first, since I have those on hand, and if that don't work, I will order one of those .223 shell extractors. I think it would fit in there with the bolt, carrier and everything removed, and if it would...

Broken/stuck 22 short case

Maybe somebody has experienced this and has a easy solution. I bought a Model 1873 22 short (made in 1889) a few years ago. The person that sold it to me said it would shoot but not extract the hulls. I glanced at it and could see the extractor was gone and figured I could get it going pretty easy. ...

Re: Lyman Borescope

I ordered one of the Ebay scopes just like the one in Old No. 7's picture. I ordered the one with the 5.5 MM camera and 16ft. cable. I will find a lot of uses for it I know. We had one at my former work and it was handy for a lot of things. We used it mostly to inspect the cylinders on the 1500hp Wa...

Get a Teslong instead- less money and much better resolution.
Thanks. That another good word on the Teslong.

Re: Winchester 94 Commemorative 30-30... is good?

Tallboy, I have a regular 94 made in 67 that has the stamped lifter and have never had a problem with it. It has had a lot of rounds through it over the years.
As far as I am concerned, I would not let that or the fake brass (I don't remember what it really is) stop me from buying on.

Lyman Borescope

Do any of you have any experience with the Lyman Borescope? I was looking at the reviews on Midway and they are mixed. Of the 12 reviews 8 gave 5 stars
and 4 gave 1 star because they couldn't link up to the unit. Nothing in between.

Joe, I have seen your posts on other forums. I have a 375 just like it and I need to get it out and shoot it.
Do you like that lace on recoil pad? I just bought one off of Amazon similar to that that I have installed on my Browning 1886 SRC, but have not shot it yet.
