Re: Of all the Winchester leverguns ...
Technically... not a Winchester, but closely associated with the name. Henry 1860 in a "carbine" form... Uberti makes one w/an 18-½" bbl. I've had one on order for several years now with one of the importers, but they say they need 5 orders to have them produced. Oh yeah, I want mine ...

When I worked patrol, I carried my required 38 Spl w/18 rounds, and a backup 1911 with 11 magazines, along with the 870, & 6 rounds; and was often criticised by other Deputies for over-reacting to unknown threats. That is until a couple of officer involved shootings in the late '80s. The first ...

I know what you mean about "handy"! While I like my "Short Rifle" Rossi 92 in 45 Colt, the Uberti '73 with it's 18-½" bbl is muy bueno. But, the 17" Marlin takes the cake. Cut down from a "Cowboy" octagon bbl, it provides the right balance between quick & ...

Buyer beware of design flaw!!!! You can call it a design flaw, but I'd say someone neglected to maintain their gun properly. It's my understanding that Winchester was already developing the mid-size smokeless cartridge and wanted a smaller, lighter action than the 1886. A "new" action for a "new" cartridge, if you will. And quite obviously successful as it is likely the most popular long gun not adopte...
