Fall hunting season cancelled, Surgery tomorrow:

might get to do some hunting much later but tomorrow i am having back surgery " bilateral micro hemilaminectomies at the L4-5 level" . i have spinal stenosis to the point that i can not walk 100 yards, nor stand for more than 5-10 minutes. it is not clearing up with all the usual measures and has actually progressed the last few weeks,
soooooo, tomorrow i will get it fixed, and in december when my son's college classes get out, we are planning to go black powder buffalo hunting over on Kodiak Island,
please keep your fingers crossed and prayers up,
i believe it will go well, and plan to be back at work in one week from tomorrow!

That's the pits. During your recovery, do exactly what the Docs tell you to do. Had some work done on my ankle a few years ago. Walked on it a little too soon and had to have it done again.

Prayers up! They have gotten really good at back surgeries anymore. You should be fine, although I'm a little surprised that you will be back at work so soon. As Modoc Ed said, do what the doctors tell you and don't rush back to work!

thanks to all, and the surgeon thinks i will be able to go back to work in a week, .....though he didn't say if i would be laying down or upright! i could only get one weeks coverage and our medical practice is definitely a 2 man job, so hook or crook, in a chair or on a gurney i guess i will be working next week.

My heartfelt prayers will be said for you during this time. Several years ago I had back surgery twice within a couple of years. I had to quit riding and working cows for folks part time and sell my horses.I even had to stop running, I ran about 35 miles a week.I was off work several weeks the second time. Just mind the doctor and don't rush the healing, and do any and all exercises that the doctor gives you. I didn't and am paying for it now.
