OT--Ruger .30 carbine BH trade

Post by Thunder50 »

Might have a chance to get my hands on a nearly NIB gun. Understand that it might have only had 3 rounds thru it. Has the origional box (yellow he said) and a partial box of ammo. Whats it worth? He wants a 357 mag BH. Might have one in the safe. Would be an even trade, if I do. What do you think?

They're LOUD!!!! I turned mine into a .357 Mag. with a spare .357 cylinder and a Shilen barrel blank. Much more enjoyable.

I traded my .30 Carbine BH to get a .357 BH.

Just wasn't as "exciting" as I thought it would be.

Well, I've passed on a couple over the past year at about $450. With the box, both had been shot (and I don't care how many shots the seller claims to have gone or not gone down the barrel, a gun fired is a used gun) but were in excellent condition. I sort of regret it. I was on the cusp of becoming a Ruger accumulator.
Sincerely,

Well, there are "357 mag BH's", and then, there are .357 mag BH's - and some, like flattops or 3-screws might actually be worth more than the .30.

Of course, "worth" has nothing to do with "want". ;)

I love the .30 Carbine Blackhawks and have used a OM successfully in Hunter Silhouette competition. Excellent accuracy, and as others have mentioned: it's loud.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Mine is nicknamed "Flamethrower" I have used its sharp concussive blast to good effect. On those rare occaisions when visiting a public range, the have been times when another patron chose the lane next to me (on an otherwise empty range) to demonstrate his manliness by rapidly discharging some type of magnum. With nonchalance I've uncased the Flamethrower, loaded it, waited for a pause in their shooting before asking, "Do you mind if I..?" When they nod, I'll rip one downrange every 5-10 seconds or so for the first cylinder. When the cylinder gap blast is enough to mess up their hair, they generally decide to move to another lane.

Whether or not it is a 3 screw would be my question.

I just purchased a brand new in the box BH 30 carbine for $396. I just gotta get use to the 7.5 inch barrel instead of the 5.5 that my 45 has.

I did not notice mine being that loud. I think my Springfield XD 45 is way louder.
