Did all Model 64 Winchesters have the long tangs?
I’ve seen some 71s with the long tang and I’ve never really looked that close at mine. But it has a long tang and I was wondering if all of them were made this way?

There are long and short tangs. I looked on the Winchester Arms Collectors site and got this from Bert H.
The question was, "Can anyone tell me when Winchester stopped making long tang Model 71s?"
Bert answered:
"Sure… July 13th, 1939 (s/n 16800) was the last Long Tang. On September 21st, 1939 s/n 16801 was manufactured as the first “Short” tang. There was a 2+ month production hiatus while Winchester retooled for the Short tang variation of the Model 71."
