Re: Thanks Giving
The very same to you, Grizz.
It's funny the shapes that gratitude can take. I am a lifelong Protestant, but my significant other is not only Catholic, but from a great big Filipino family and tonight we said day three of a Novena for her beloved Uncle Ben Cables, who passed Monday evening in Tacoma. While I'm starting to get the hang of the Rosary, the more impressive thing is the love and laughter and irreverence of all these hearts, coming together in honor of an uncle and brother they adored. Sometimes, the great gift of death is to make us all aware of the life we have right in front of us -- and what a precious and fleeting miracle it is. I am grateful for this, for family, for friends, for the chance we each have to make this world a little better -- and especially for friends whose wise counsel lets us see the nature of our loving God. (That's you, J.T.)
And for Thanksgiving at our house we are having a Gulf shrimp boil with crusty bread, cold beer and football.

Re: Thanks Giving
The older I get, the more I have noticed that giving thanks and counting blessings as they happen to come to mind is a great body tonic and mind therapy. You know, the simple things that are just taken for granted in modern society & western culture are such boons/bonanzas comparatively speaking.
Example ? When its deep-hollow, booger dark, something as humble as a disposable cigarette lighter sure is useful. etc. etc. and on and on.
And having a known and evident Beneficent Creator to give thanks to instead of stumbling about in earnest philosophical searching or pagan idolatry is a blessing without compare.

Happy belated Thanksgiving fellas. I've been slipping in and out of the turkey/food coma. I love leftovers as much as the actual meal!

Re: Thanks Giving
Happy late Thanksgiving to all. It was a good day for us. We didn't go anywhere, just stayed home with our family. Praise God for my family!
