Since the topic of repealing the income tax has come up…

A lot of people have their snout in the trough, though, and there is a lot of fear, mongering and misrepresentation of it.

The cool thing is, it would essentially make everything ‘deductible’, and since it only taxes, new retail sales, those willing to deal in used goods would get rewarded for the labor in refurbishing things.

Of course, there is a lot of criticism, but the fundamental question really is how could it be any worse than the arbitrary and corrupt system, we now have, which is in addition to retail tax.

At a MINIMUM we have to as a society completely renounce the concept of property tax and income tax. If there Hass to be a tax, it should at least in someway be proportional to either the services provided to the individual, or sum measure of individuals, disposable income. Retail consumption is probably as good as any indicator of such things, and certainly better than income or property taxes. Property taxes essential mean you never on your home, you just pay the government rent for it.

Of course we get constantly misled by 'news' headlines like this:

Instead, it should read "Government will be stealing money from taxpayers who fail to purchase products from this company who is run by friends of politicians and contributes to their campaigns."

It's undeniable that it takes money to run the country. You want fair, set a fixed income tax rate percent for everyone.

That percentage to never change. And the government must not "borrow" any money and pay off the debt.

No more foreign aid.

The Fair Tax is well thought out. It is as fair as it gets. Taxes are paid on New goods and services. You buy a used car, no tax. New car, pay The Man Vern. All those parts that went in that car, no tax. That alone would reduce the cost of manufacturing country wide.
It’s amazing.
It’s got a snowball’s chance in hell of passage. It removes the incentive for lobbyists. Which removes the pork fat from politicians’ pockets.
Term limits would be the only chance for it to even make it through committee.

Yeah, a tax based on 'income' has to define income, and that invites treachery. Then of course some demand 'deductions' and soon it is just a social-engineering and corrupt mess...!
