Truck Noises (made by humans...)

Post by AJMD429 »

.
I just realized that the childhood-habit of sometimes 'making truck noises' occasionally returns, if I'm starting uphill or upstairs with a heavy load to carry. At least as an adult it is a quieter and 'less enthusiastic' (or embarassing) manifestation.

Reminds me of how our kids differed early on in 'gender' - while the girls ON THEIR OWN grabbed dolls and made baby-noises, my son ON HIS OWN went for trucks and made truck-noises - even as 18 month old kids these differences were there.

Thankfully, ALL of them pretty much liked firearms though.

Anyhow, I was sort of glad to notice myself quietly grunting gear-shifting noises when I had to carry a bag of concrete up a steep hill last weekend... I guess part of me is 'still young'... :D

I remember when GI Joe's came out. Some kids would brag about having them. Those of use with better sense called them boys Barbies. It usually led to the owner crying to his mommy.

A couple decades ago my now-30-year-old son and his fellow pre-teen friend had been playing 'war' all day with GI-Joes and toy soldiers and homemade 'bazookas' they made from scrap conduit and duct-tape, then fell asleep, both with soldiers and bazookas and toy-tanks on their chests.

My wife and I carefully pried the macho toys from their arms and replaced them with his sister's Barbies and My Pretty Ponies...

...and got a nice series of photos which we shared with the other mom...

THAT was great ammunition for us when it came to motivating them to do chores over the next few years - "...you wouldn't wanna have your friends see those photos, would you...???

Nowadays you'd have to pull the barbies out of their hands and put GI Joe's into their grasp to use for chore ambition!

Truck noises - too funny, and as someone with "diagnosable maturity issues" I can relate!

I don't shoot semi-autos often but my loudest groans are probably when I bend over to pick up my brass.
