Anyone know the IEEE or SAAMI standard for bluejeans...?

...what - nobody knows...??? Well that must be because THERE IS NO STANDARD - it must just be whatever mood they are in that batch...
I pretty much buy all my clothes at either Rural King (jeans, underwear, socks) or Goodwill (shirts, sweaters), other than I spend the money saved on great shoes, since if I don't my feet hurt like crazy.
But no matter where I get the jeans (I occasionally stray from RK) and no matter whether I get a 'name' brand like Carhart or whatever, it seems like when I do my weekly 'move-in' to the new jeans-for-the-workweek, the belt-loops are always in different and unpredictable places.
That makes it a real pain-in-the-sacrum (literally, sometimes) and annoyance when it comes to positioning some of the EDC stuff, due to loops being too close together for the magazine/multitool carrier I like, and/or in the wrong position for comfortable use of my IWB holster.
Maybe next time I need jeans I'll see if RK has about 20 pair in my size, then take one to the dressing room and see if it accomodates my 'stuff' - and if it does just buy 20 pair or so at once (that is, IF they have the loops in the same place). I swap 'work' (office) jeans weekly, and after about 6-8 cycles a pair downgrades to 'grocery store' status, then another 6-8 and they become 'family picnic' ones, then 'yardwork' ones, and eventually 'changing the oil' ones, and I feed 3-4 new pair into the rotation every 3-4 months, so I guess I 'consume' a pair per month maybe - so 20 pairs might last a couple years.

The worst is belt loops that are not quite tall enough to handle a 1.75" belt. You can force it, but it takes 10 minutes to lace everything on.

Perhaps you are buying seconds or knockoffs . I have no such problem with the brand I buy. But, I learned to buy directly from the manufacturer's website after getting some ill fitting knockoffs.

Been getting the ordinary Wranglers for years, haven't noticed any deviation in belt loops, usually just wearing suspenders now cause my azz fell off and there's not much to hold my pants up....
Used to be a Levi's guy, but they got ridiculous with pricing and went yuppified years ago, walmart has Wranglers cheap, or I get them straight from Wrangler, usually have a deal and free shipping, still under 20 bucks!

Maybe I need to go with Wrangler or other brand then...
It seems like whenever I get to liking a brand, they go all 'woke' though; even Ruger back in the day, supporting bans on over-15-round magazines...

Re: Anyone know the IEEE or SAAMI standard for bluejeans...?
I wear nothing but Lee relaxed fit carpenter jeans.
What used to be I would get a year out of a pair, since the new world order tried to kill us all with covid the quality has gone down hill.
I wear a 33-34 waist, belt loops are added or subtracted at whim. Worst is the lower leg pocket which may or may not allow me to put my phone inside without having to shove with both hands.
The big thing with denim is don't over wash them.

I grew up wearing Levis... then I got used to Seafarers, but they were only sold at the Exchange... so I went back to Levis when my last Seafarers up and died... And I'm still a Levis guy, The fit (for me) is better than Wranglers, plus zippers seem to hate me! I buy them at the local outlet mall, I just look at it as supporting a local business. Two of the women working there have been there a long time... always friendly and always with a smile. Especially refreshing after being in a Wal-Mart, since it seems to becoming more & more rare there.

Re: Anyone know the IEEE or SAAMI standard for bluejeans...?
I wore Levi's for probably 30+ years but at some point the fit seemed to change and the price went crazy. Tried several brands before ending up with Wranglers. For me, the 13MWZ Cowboy Cut are closest to what used to be a Levi 505, fit wise, for me. I've been satisfied with them, they seem consistent (belt loop placement wise as well) and they run around $20 at the local feed store here in town.
Re: Anyone know the IEEE or SAAMI standard for bluejeans...?
and NOT ENOUGH belt loops in front. was that a cost-saving thing? like save 9c per pair times a billion pairs ? idkLeverGunner wrote: ↑Sun Sep 29, 2024 12:36 pm The worst is belt loops that are not quite tall enough to handle a 1.75" belt. Re: Anyone know the IEEE or SAAMI standard for bluejeans...?
For a different option... Consider this...
I've worn jeans maybe once in the last 2+ years... I've 99.9% switched to wearing cargo-type pants, mostly from Cabelas (Bass Pro) that have the left-side low pocket for a cell phone and the right-side low pocket for my wallet. Those pockets either have snap or velcro flaps, but I've also got about a half dozen (Redhead brand) that have an open "pocket behind a flapped pocket" on the left side, so the phone is easily accessible; or you can secure the phone in the outer pocket that has the flap if needed (while out fishing or in the woods). The fit of them is really nice too, easy to work and play in, but the best part of the 2 lower cargo pockets is:
-- (a) easy access to the phone in one, and
-- (b) you don't sit on your wallet all day!
I had some sessions with a physical therapist a few times after I'd strained my back, and in her experience, more than 60% of the "back or right hip problems" for men was caused by them sitting on a wallet for hours and hours at a time for many years. That's what caused me to give cargo pants a closer look, and the variety, colors and styles available today is 10X what was available 20 years ago. These aren't your father's cargo pants.
Duluth Trading makes a line of semi-dress work slacks that have the lower side pockets too, only they're not sewn/visible on the outside like typical cargo pants are sewn. I've worn the khaki ones to several business outings and they look as sharp as the khakis the others were wearing; plus the black or navy blue colors can be worn with a button-down shirt and sports jacket. So with those, you get the comfort of "not sitting on your wallet" and having your phone in a secure, easily accessible pocket, and you look "dressed for success" -- without the cargo jeans look (or sitting on your wallet and wondering wear to put your cell phone). Multiple colors are available too. All that said, I honestly don't see myself buying another pair of blue jeans ever again...
Wear what you want -- just don't go around naked...

Re: Anyone know the IEEE or SAAMI standard for bluejeans...?
Hmm, I see a lot of benefit in what ya say Old No7, but I'll be doggone - I'd give up my wallet before I'd give up my jeans.
I do remove my wallet from my pocket if I am doing mechanic work on a car. I have found it is just plain uncomfortable.
Jeans to me are just about the most comfortable thing to wear. I have worn slacks and cargo pants, but jeans are my favorite.

I've been buying Wranglers on-line for years and had no such problems as Doc relays.

I don't know anything about "standards" but I do have a suggestion for whoever makes them.
Design a pair of pants that will stay up on old guys who don't have an ascend to hold them up! PLEASE!

Re: Anyone know the IEEE or SAAMI standard for bluejeans...?
Two suggestions.
First, echoing the Round House line of jeans, bib overalls, etc. They do a v. quality product, prices same as or better than Carhartt. And, they're made in 'Murica.
Note, there's Round House, and there's the Round House outlet, where they do have products made overseas
Take note of their factory seconds or irregulars. I've multiple bib overalls at $29.95, and their quality control inspectors are ruthless. I've seen how they have them marked.
So saying, a pick, or crooked seam, etc., makes no difference to me when I'm bush hogging or got the chainsaw out.
Add'tl note. Read their website carefully, their sizing is different. I do 50 by 32 Carhartt bibs, for Round House they're 54x30. Also, irregulars can't be returned.
I highly recommend them.
Second, check out Sierra Trading Post, or whatever they're called these days. https://www.sierra.com/
They are a revolving yard sale of brand name factory seconds. Sometimes availability changes daily.
I've got Carhartt B13 carpenter dungaree pants $25-$30, third to half off what's in stores.
Carhartt B01 duck double front utility pants $39.95, usually $60 or more around here.
So, two sources for you to check out.

Darryl, way back when I got the same advice. For over a decade I either carried my wallet in my front pocket or in cargo pants pockets, but never in pockets where I sit. Terrible for you.Old No7 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2024 12:58 pm I had some sessions with a physical therapist a few times after I'd strained my back, and in her experience, more than 60% of the "back or right hip problems" for men was caused by them sitting on a wallet for hours and hours at a time for many years.

Levi's went woke and anti-gun years ago. I haven't bought a pair of their over-priced stuff in over 30 years.
Reading the replies... so that's why my pants don't stay up now!
