OT- SUCCESS (wish me luck!) Now with BEARS

Trying my hand at Pastrami tomorrow.
Brisket has been in a pickle since Monday. It's been rinsed/soaked in fresh water all day and now the rub is applied! Overnight in the fridge and into hickory smoke in the morning!

Not 30 minutes into the smoker I'm just sitting down with my 2nd cup of coffee, look out the window and I see a small black thing on the other side of my chain link. Parker is next to me on the couch.
It stops and sniffs the air...
Oh no you don't!
I ease the door open and step out on the deck. Mmmm it smells great out here! HEY BEAR GIT OUTTA HERE! No response. So I walk to where my wind will hit it. Yup that broke that alluring odor. It takes a few steps but is unconcerned. So in my socks I charged it yelling. It ran finally. So I went back in the house, grabbed some bottle rockets and slid some shoes on.
It was out of site but that wasn't going to stop me from lightning bottle rockets!

The bears are recent, probably in the last 15 years the population has begun to rise. Now they are almost a nuisance! The state F&G have more or less thrown up their hands in disgust, our ignorant leftist gubbermint has ham stringed any common sense policies to control Ursus Americanus. Sure we have a bear season, it's the first week of December!
When the season first opened you had to take a class on how to hunt them.
Seasons have been opened, closed upon the bunny huggers whims.
Now you can shoot any bear as long as it weighs 75lbs or more, can't be within 100 yds of bait. Just complete ignorance!
Bird feeders aren't safe. Garbage cans are tossed all the time, homes broken into- heck they once chewed on the corner of my house trying to get a bird feeder.
It won't be long before someone gets killed.
2 counties north of me they are so bad that folks shoot them in the guts to go die a slow horrible death.

Man - I haven't had lunch yet and you put my stomach to growning .
BTW I had a bear in my field next to my yard yestrrday eveving. Looked about 200 # ,stayed around about 15 Min.
