I'm not an airplane guy, but my farming neighbor has this cropduster so I found this interesting.

Just as a levergun can make almost as good a home-defense carbine vs an AR-15, this Skywarden crop-dusting plane kinda niches a level below the A-10 Warthog.

That looks like something the Ukrainians could manage over the F-16!

I want one. I imagine more factories will be needed if the military brass get their heads wrapped around the concept. OTOH, this is a perfect sales pitch for the clandestine cartels [/nopoop]
Re: A 'levergun vs AR' airplane analogy...
He was right about the USAF not really understanding such a versatile aircraft. Heck, they tried to kill the A-10 from the beginning because it wasn't a supersonic dogfighter. And the folks that would understand it's use the USA aren't allowed to have fixed wing aircraft. On the other hand, imagine what the USMC could do with such a plane.

A sensible adaptation of a versatile aircraft. No matter how sophisticated weapons systems get there is still a need for close ground support of troops just as there will always be a need for ground forces.
If a jeep and a Sherman tank had mated and grown wings they might have produced an aircraft like the Antonov An-2 which is an incredible and versatile flying dinosaur. I saw two of them flying when I was behind the Iron Curtain in the 80s and the thing that still remains in my mind is how unbelievably loud they were. Worth a read.

For those interested in airplanes and firearms, if you haven't read "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross, you would probably like it...

While dated a bit in places, UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES should be required reading for gun owners. It is basically a true novel with the characters in it recognizable by those of us who lived through those years. The history of the government working against gun ownership is factual and historically accurate.
