45 ACP carbine with 20-round mags

Having 1911 style controls and a left-hand charging handle makes it perfect as far as I’m concerned. I wouldn’t mind an integrally suppressed barrel, but that adds a bunch of fees and paperwork, and out of a rifle, 45 ACP is certainly not dangerously loud, even if you had to use it indoors, which would probably be the most likely scenario.

Not sure I’ll keep the Mepro light on it, but I got that before they had the compact little shake-awake red dots

Definitely worth keeping in your inventory!

I've got a MecTech in 10 mm also and it's deadly accurate.
10mm, when you care enough to send the very best.

I especially like that the magazines don't stick out very far.

Will it take regular 1911 magazines?

It will if you put a regular 1911 frame on it

Tubular upper reminds me of a Sten or something.

Can probably pick up a Tisas or something similar for 4-500 for a dedicated lower for something like that

"...Will it take regular 1911 magazines...?"

HERE is the original post - explains the 'single-stack' issue - basically whatever 1911 you put in it will determine magazines.

I had a 'spare' double-stack RIA and it was very heavy vs my alloy P-14 CCW gun, so I figured why not put it to use making a carbine that uses the same (in my case, double-stack) magazines as my CCW gun....!

I just realized I got the 'upper' 14 years ago...!!! Time flies.

"... have you chronographed the velocities from the carbine vs the pistol...? "

....

"...someday..."

I know it was accurate enough when I shot it a bunch of first getting it, that I thought about a low power scope. Cloverleaf 5-shots at 25 yards with ball ammo.

Thanks 44 shooter and AJMD 429 for clearing that up for me. I had forgotten about those upper kits you get for your 1911 frame. Glad to hear they work well.

There is also a shoulder stock and 16 inch barrel to fit to a govt 1911, and a holster for the rig, and 15 round mags . . .
