I’ve made something like that out of pvc for my shotguns. I have to admit the quality of that’s a lot better than mine.

When I carried a levergun for serious purposes I treated it like a shotgun and planned to top it off as needed. Fortunately I never needed to test that under fire.

Marlin sold one of those back in the 1800's when they offered their first .22 rimfire model 1891 side loading lever action rifle! The tiny little 1891 and .22RF cartridges was a bit difficult for owners to load into the side gate, so they offered a tube loader to make the rifle easier to load.
Pre WWI Marlins and Singleshot rifles!
