Didn't want to hijack YK's thread on military arms

Post by 2ndovc »

Civil war through WWII/ Korea.

Harpers Ferry 1842, Ohio cartouche on the stock.
The Sharps is a repro, but I love that thing. I keep reminding my dad that he gave me one of his Trapdoors, but he still doesn't want to give it up.
Springfield 1898, .30-40
Winchester 1917. Barrel date; 10-17.
Remington '03-A3. Barrel date of 12-42. Griff, yours is the only other 12-42 I've heard of. I've only seen one earlier and that was 11-42.
Winchester M1, Korean re-import, but it was only $240!
Winchester M1 Carbine. This is a very early production Winchester with a blued barrel and two piece OP rod. DCM gun updated with post WWII features.

The only US military pistols that survived the Purge;
1911, made in 1913 and was never upgraded/ reworked with later parts. This one most likely came home in some GIs bag.
The two 1917s and the Victory model, I've had since I was in my twenties.
I picked up the trench knife at a farm auction for $40 if I remember right. I got lucky and no one knew what it was.

If I have time, I'll do the British, Russian and Finn stuff later. It all needs a good wipe down/ dusting. Some of this stuff, I haven't fired in years.

Hijack my threads anytime Jason! :D

I love the collection. I need to do a picture of mine. Similar to yours, but my Krag is a sporterized carbine that I am trying to restore to as-issued. And I don't have a 1917 yet. In fact I've lost out on two GunBroker auctions in the last week. Still beating myself about passing on one back in 1996 for $350.
