Parker is six? I thought she was like two or three!
You forget about the covid years Bill! I suppose I could have bred her during the covid horse pucky but here was lockdowns and we still have people wearing masks so I put off breeding and not being allowed to get people here to see, visit, play with puppies.
Unless my math is wrong, 2023 - 2017= 6... ? Yes time flies.

I have 4 dogs, and city ordinances say that is all. Sorry, but I can't help.

Well with 2 boys still needing homes I doubt it will be quiet anytime soon!
Somehow the little monsters got a roll of paper towels last night! They had an absolute grand time turning it into a ticker tape parade that would have made Neil Armstrong proud! Oh what a mess in the box!!!

Well fellas, 0245 this am and the hyenas were at it AGAIN! someone dropped a steamer in the box which made them want to get away! So outside they went.
Half asleep I believe they did their congressional duties and I brought them back in. Not 5 minutes after I got back in bed they started again. Back out and sure enough they finished the important stuff. Back inside, back to bed and they started playing with a very noisy toy. Downstairs I go and take it away!
Finally back to the land of nod for about an hour and my alarm goes off.
Seems like this past week has been extremely short nights!

Knock wood its been full nights sleep the past week ! However the days are nonstop barking, biting, snapping ,running, playing FUN!
Here is Sage after a full evening of play and a belly full of food

They really like to lay by a fan, sleep like logs.
They now know the sound of ice cubes being rattled in the tray- better give them some cubes or your going to hear sounds you wouldn't think a puppy could make !!

Well, this morning they were able to get a hold of a placemat on top of the trunk I made and serves as the coffee table. Once it was in their clutches they commenced to eating phone charger wire, ear buds.
I can't blame them, only myself!
SOUND THE ALARM!!RELEASE THE BLOODHOUNDS! FIRE UP THE SEARCH LIGHTS!! ALERT THE WARDEN- JAIL BREAK!!
I got home and the puppies are in the pantry- supposed to be in the kitchen.
I ask what happened and their being in the pantry was only half of the problem. Seems they were able to weasel their way under the puppy fence and spent some time on walk-about in the yard. Im glad I fenced the whole yard!!!
So I pounded in a few more stakes and wired the stakes to the fence. Fingers crossed I have foiled future escape!

My late wife favored cats... and she tolerated my dogs until I started driving a truck... She put her foot down and said I either take 'er with me, or find a new home. I can't see coopin' up a dog inside a truck for days on end, so... found a good home. When I retire, I'd like to find myself another Springer Spaniel/Pointer cross... (I guess now called Spointers) LOL. Best pointing dog I ever owned. Better than either of the Weimaraners or Irish Setter I had later. I guess the two Golden Retrievers I had were the best family pet.

There is a fine line between hobby & obsession! AND... I'm over it!!
No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
I'm a lab guy but any of the sporting breeds floats my boat. I really like weimaraners, Gordon setters, red setters, springers.
And of course JRTs are on the list, I love their no fear ' I'll kill it ' attitude!

Interesting. If Springers even hint at pointing they are disqualified from competitions. Mine was my companion and never in competition, so I forgave him the couple of times he pointed on accident. He loved the outdoors and shooting. If I stopped he would come right up to me and tell me off...
His nose was so good he could find the entrance holes in the back yard made by the .17 air pistol. Couldn't keep him from charging the impact zone and had to send him on a wild goose chase to keep him from heading downrange based on the position of the gun barrel... a barrel of laughs.
Ugh, the warden is gonna have my head!
They got out of the kitchen once today. Got out of the fenced puppy pen twice! Parker was the culprit by pushing the gate open. The second escape 3 of them bum-rushed the fence and I heard CRACK- snapped a plastic fence post and went over the wire. Im running out of stuff to make impromptu fence posts!
I have escape artists, too. Mycroft, a 25 pound terrier mix can jump a 6 foot fence. Keeping him in is not possible. Colter digs like a Ditch Witch.

Oh great job Piller, ya just had to say the 'j ' word didn't ya!!
So I hear them in the kitchen making to usual puppy sounds. I sneak in the kitchen to see them playing and just the softest little whistle and Sage comes full tilt jumps up on the couch and onto the counter !!
Now im not going to encourage that behavior!
I don't encourage it, but Mycroft will get out and bark at all the dogs in the neighborhood. The Animal Control Officer gets called and he plays hide and seek with her a while before doing his Superman impression back over the fence. Not allowed by city ordinance to put up an 8 foot fence. I have had to keep him inside if no one is home or if we are asleep.

Captain Banana has gone to his home. His people were regular visitors over the past month and a half. I encourage people who are interested in a puppy to spend as much time here as possible.
Now to get the other 2 boys into a home so I can start Sage on using her nose!
I best ought to start training all 3 to walk on a leash.

Well Frick,Frack and Sage did it again!! As I was getting ready to leave for work there they are with another charger cord ! Yup it was in pieces hanging out of their mouths.
I know I had it up and out of their reach... apparently NOT!
I listed Frick and Frack on the AKC website, been a few inquiries, the last was some guy wanting me to sell him the two pups but said he was a very busy person and would have a 3rd party pick up the pups. Umm NO!
Obviously the scammers are now trying to target dog breeders as well.
I told the guy nope I don't believe you are legitimate and he wasn't going to even see my pups let alone buy one. Ya gotta watch yer six at all times!
Good for you, Will. Those pups deserve really special homes.
We have a malign actor in our neighborhood who chains his pit bulls out in the heat, on what once was a lawn. The cops know him well.
My second litter I was down to 1 pup, a chocolate male- I was really close to keeping him when a couple contacted me. They drove about 1³/⁴ hours to get here. They kept going out to the car to discuss it.
Back and forth a few times and it was getting to be 9pm or so and I was getting fed up with their antics. Finally they decided to take him and he became a therapy dog for a little girl in the school they both worked at. I guess he became all he could be. I'm proud of him! And all I was gonna do was teach him to hunt...

As Johnny Carson found out, do not let Mingo have a Tomahawk.
Good looking pups.

Such a comedian, Mingo is a hoot!
When he is on the couch but wants down he whines a bit then backs up to get a running start and then chickens out before he takes the leap. He will do this a few times before he girdles his loins and finally jumps, getting 3 times the height than he gets length! He sticks the landing most of the time.
Still trying to get these boys homes.
Turq, the yellow boy learned he could climb the puppy fence. Then he learned he could use that skill to get himself out of the whelping box. So they now have their own crate to sleep in. Sage and Popeye had no issues with crates but boy did Turq sure did squawk and carry on the first night!
Yesterday in about 10 minutes and a small handful of kibble all three learned how to sit.
I gotta take more pics!
