1896 - The New Small-Bore Cartridges by W.E. Carlin, C.E.

There is so much information out there in these vintage magazines. I would certainly trust what is in these old issues more than anything published today, especially after the 1960's. Nothing is ever perfect, but these late 1890's and early 1900's magazines are much more accurate than what we see now days. So much accurate information has been lost through the years.

I agree, I don't buy magazines nowadays, too expensive and full of advertising.
If more men loved and cherished their wives as much as I love bacon the world would be a much better place.

I’ve purchased boxes and boxes of books well over eighty years old just for information like that in the article you mention .

thanks for posting this. I always wondered where the "dumping all the energy inside" idea came from . . . it came from assumptions about wound trauma and bullet expansion.

I believe 2 holes are better than one. now we have gel tests and can see that the shock trauma is not reduced by bullets exiting the gel block.

Great read. I've been rereading "Yours Truly, Harvey Donaldson" and have found it utterly delightful. The transitional periods of firearms development are endlessly fascinating to me.
