Nick Cage, "The Old Way", yea or nay?

Post by wecsoger »

Just saw this was running at the local cinny.

Nicolas Cage stars in his first-ever Western as Colton Briggs, a cold-blooded gunslinger turned respectable family man. When an outlaw and his gang put Colton and his family in peril, Colton is forced to take up arms with an unlikely partner - his 12-year-old daughter (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) - in this action-filled film that builds toward its fateful showdown with pulse-pounding suspense.

I've little interest in movies any more, but this one has Cage, and it's a western so it's got that going for it.

Only movie I went to last year was "The Northman", that one entirely worth it.

My criteria for movies is, full price/big screen, matinee price/big screen, or stay home with beer and pizza.

Nick Cage, mostly has been in that last category for me.

Familiar theme of the gunman called out of retirement, but the 12-year-old daughter is certainly a plot twist.

Anymore I just wait until they hit TV to watch them. Not in that big a hurry to see anything at a movie theater anymore. I could buy the DVD for less than what two theater tickets cost these days!

What was that one about Billy The Kid being called out of retirement? Old Will, or something like that. His death had been faked, and he had become a farmer.

Old Henry. Not a bad movie.

The introduction of the daughter to the plot line may be a new wrinkle to it. Trying to find a theater showing it locally. -Tutt

Actually Nicolas Cage starred in "Butcher's Crossing" last year as a buffalo hunter in the 1870's. Another one that I'll have look out for.

It's a well known story line for most Western movie fans but I at least try to watch any new western that comes out. Some end up being good or okay.....some end up being very bad.

I have also learned to not go by most reviews. Different people have their different view of what makes any movie a good one.

When it becomes available to stream I will definitely be checking it out.

Meh. Slow. Missed quite a few tactical and firearm realities.
