Made a knife.

Sticking my head out, I realize I haven't posted anything in a while. Here is a knife I made for my grandson for christmas. It is damascus with a mixture of coil spring, file and some softer 1018. The scales are walnut and the rivets are brass. Right side has a raised polished etch of my nickname for him all his life, Tater. The left side has his name, Nate, in the layered damascus. This is actually in the metal. A technique I taught myself. I thought you all would enjoy this. Happy Holidays.

Curious if you use a power hammer to forge weld the layers.

All welding is done by hand. I have a tire hammer that I use for large drawing steps but for accuracy I go to the hand hammer.

I'm not understanding wat you want. Do you mean a knife with Leverguns on it? The raised lettering side could have any name or word but the name in the damascus would be very difficult to pull off. Doable but the fewer letters the better and space is limited.

After I quit shoeing horses, my old instructor talked me into selling my anvil and forge (coal) to a younger feller just starting out. I've since replaced the anvil as when I had horses I only cold shod them. But, I've often thought of getting a propane forge to do small projects like this.
