S&W Restoration Project

I picked up this old S&W 33-1 at a Pawn Shop a while back. It was in pretty rough shape with rusted areas, scratches, dings, etc. I cleaned it up initially and used a little cold blue to try and make it a little more presentable. Still looked pretty rough, so I recently stripped it down and gave it a new look with Cerakote OD Green and Combat Grey colors. Some new Hogue grips finished it up nicely.

Yes, I've been slowly getting set up to do my own Cerakote projects and start taking on some side jobs. Still need a larger oven to let me do bigger items.

I just shoot various 158 gr cast loads. The small sights in combination with my eyes make precise shooting difficult for me. Grapefruit size groups at 25 yards are good enough for me with this one.

Ted, that'll work. There is something "special" about shooting the .38 Special as it is generally so well-behaved and downright pleasant.

That turned out pretty slick! Like the others have said as well, the .38 Spl. is just plain fun to shoot. I've been shooting my RHKP /Model 10 an awful lot lately.

I had a similar experience with a “distressed” Colt Lawman 25 years ago I bought for $180. My first handgun. It looked so ugly to me With the scratched and pitted finish that I had it parkerized and put on a set of Pachmayers.
Instant transformation

Over the years a lot of people have remarked that I ruined the value of an old colt’. But to the contrary it made it to where I wanted to carry it afield And it has been a valued member of my gun room ever since. And since it was an old police trade in All the wear and tear was cosmetic As it was truly an example of one that had been carried lots and shot little
