Was picking up a few more boxes of .50-140 ammo, and a bunch of old vintage bullet boxes, and ammo yesterday. My friend asked if I was interested in an air pistol, so I told him to bring it out and I'd like to see it. I wasn't expecting what he brought out!
It's an FEG Match air pistol that is a .177 caliber, and uses small CO2 refillable cartridges to power it. He added the scope, adjustable target grips, aftermarket trigger, larger muzzle brake, and bolt handle, plus a few other features. He wanted $200, and I figured it must be worth that, so I didn't argue. I'll need to get a CO2 tank to fill the cartridges, and check around town this weekend to see what those cost. Looks like it might be fun for backyard plinking.
"The Boys Of Summer" is what one fellow on an airgun forum calls his CO2 guns. That FEG looks like quite a fun bit to play with. Hope you share your experiences with this one with us. Remember that CO2 is HEAVILY reliant on ambient temperatures, so it'll work best in all likelihood above 70* F.

I spent some time reading the manual thoroughly, and there's some cautions they mentioned about filling the small mounted tanks from your larger bulk tank. Most revolved around ensuring you got a full charge, which requires putting the small tanks in the refrigerator prior to filling so the liquid CO2 doesn't turn to gas as it hits a warmer tank. Then releasing some CO2 after you think it's full, and topping it off after you release a small amount. Didn't sound too complicated, but sounds like it gives more consistent fill if done properly.
I don't see any mention in the instructions of what velocity it works at? So I may take my Oehler chronograph and see if it picks up the tiny .177 pellets to get a reading on it.

That would be a 10 meter target pistol.
Velocities usually run around 600fps for those.
C-T-C will be less than the diameter of the pellet if you do your part.
(The trick is to do that consistently over 60 shots! )

Back when I shot .22 Bullseye matches at our club, there were some guys shooting 10 meter air guns, but back then most were spring operated, and I found them hard to stay on target when the trigger was pulled. I've heard these CO2 versions have very little movement from recoil, so are a little easier to hold steady. Of course I'm 30 years older now, and holding steady for any offhand pistol match shooting is out of the question now. But I'll have fun with it anyway.
