Hey Six, I'm celebrating by drinking coffee and ditching the tea... I'm really pleased for you all and can't wait for President Trump to take revenge on the commie bar stewards we have in power over here.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
Well that is strange! Just a couple days ago I switched from coffee to tea. I've always drank really strong coffee, but it's starting to raise a ruckus with my guts. Gonna see if the tea helps. I like tea, but I sure miss my coffee first thing in the morning.
Congrats on your win Six!

Yea…..be bop be bop…life goes on…
Tea never did nothing for me…I had a few “Truly Unruly’s” last night….(4 out of 6 over 6 hours) and I feel like S today even though it was out of a “MAINE” glass from the Jayster……ran the Cyclone Rake and burned up 6 gallons of 93 octane……got everything “looking” like a DuPont estate but without the money.
For real, as much as a Cyclone Rake costs, which isn’t a lot, it’s well worth the effort and expense..it sucks up all kinds debris…….leaves everything looking like a golf course………ahhh, it’s one of those things retired guys buy to stay busy.

It got too warm to hunt today so I threw in the towel at noon. Came home and fired up the 570 and sucked up the leaves again. Hopefully just one more time will do it.
Those cussed oak leaves hold on with a death grip. So don't the maples out back. The cut leaf maples out front drop them earlier.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
Yea…silver maples have already dropped and the broad leaf Norway maple is one of the last to drop. Locust dropped but the willow is hanging on. Hickory and the white oak are halfway done. In fact, I’m not too far from being done. I should be dropping in the next week if this weather continues with the summertime temps….

Yea GK…..the woman AG who starred, along with her family in the movie, “Gorillas in the Mist” swore today she’s going to make life miserable for POTUS Trump. Trump needs to get a bulldog AG and start making these people pay for their malicious prosecution.

Yeah, but look at the voting map. It's always the same. The whole state is red except for the souther edge along the coast. Where all the flatlander transplants live. Friggen human garbage.
Anyway.......no 300lb buck for me. Ain't seen nothin for sign. Seen a bunch of partridge though. Probably should swap my 44 for a shotgun. Nah.
Gonna head up in the morning and stay over till Saturday.
I did see this guy this morning. It was no small feat getting a pic. Little buggers are quick.

What is that, a white weasel? Reminds me of my BIL, whom I call the sneaky weasel.
I know Jay……..go look at the map of pa…..same thing……entire of state is red……Philly, Pittsburg, Harrisburg, and Center county, where Penn State is….all blue. Same everywhere in the country……gather up the heads of corporations, immigrants, and people who follow sports (IQ’s around 80)
It’s redencks and blue collar workers who won the election for TRUMP.
The snowflakes are melting big time…..Fox News showed groups of college girls with pink hair (and boys) crying. Nancy Pelosi and AOC…CRYING…blaming the loss on sexism.
I looked up the election results for MY area…….OVERWHELMINGLY blue. I can pick this out without looking at the results…..remember me telling you about of the imported cars around here, who incidently, their owners make their money from China…..short term thinking…..
Meanwhile, my lit up Trump sign out front with the strobe lights is blinking away……I’ll probably find 10 pounds of trash out on the lawn tomorrow.
Well, we have 4 years to relish the win……..and then JD Vance to carry on……—-00

That's an ermine, the winter phase of weasels. We have them here in NM as well.
Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
Yes. I had to explain this to a buddy of mine. He didn't understand that the name changes with the color.
Both are vicious little critters. My grandfather had one living in his 39 Chevy. Even though gramp showed him the name on the registration, the ermine thought it was his car and it was quite a fight. He went through the firewall and went in the horn. Gramp plugged it and unbolted the horn from the inner fender, then let him out.

Over here what you guys call a Weasel we call a Stoat and it can turn to Ermine in winter but the much smaller Weasel usually stays brown, I have only ever seen one Ermine in England but now I'm close to the Scottish border hoping to see a few more.

Oregon is a RED state also, but for 7 blue counties that hold the major (liberal) population core. We only have about 4.5 million people statewide. Heck, the Philly metro area alone has close to 6 million people
This map is very telling also.

New Mexico has a population of right around 2 million but is the 5th largest state in the country. There is lots and lots of open space here. There was a time when NM was a red state, but like California there was a single polititian who came to office and turned it into a blue state. Despicable.
Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
Yup. It's the same story all over. It's not a matter of IF, it how long you can hold out. We did really good up her until the last 6 years or so. Now it will be a fast slide.

I've been down with a stinkin' head cold since Saturday can't remember the last time I was coughing and sneezing so much.
Spent my time watching stock refinishing on YouTube, I am so pleased with the Stevens.410 thanks to OldWin's tip about the leather dye so I want to give my USSR hammer gun a full makeover.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
I haven't got round to watching the video on Elmer Keith's guns yet, must look it up.
I've been busy catching up with chores since I got this lurgy / head cold and I'm burning firewood like its going out of fashion as the weather has turned cold and snow is forecast.
Question do you guys roast chestnuts over there? I have been roasting them on top of my log burner, only problem is I have buy them as the chestnuts here don't grow as big as the ones down south.

Hey buddy! I thought the thread died.
I've never roasted or eaten a chestnut in my life! I'll have to try them sometime.
Boy, by the looks of it, I ain't gonna get no deer meat to go with then chestnuts. Ain't seen a thing.
Oh well, it's good to be out just the same. Get to play with a Winchester and Colt all day. Way better than working.

I can't argue with that I'm hoping to get back out into the woods especially if we do get a bit of snow, I'm putting off my stock refinishing in case I feel under gunned with just the .410 at least there's no Bears to worry about..

I never saw it either. But that's small potatoes compared to what's going to be against him.
Oops! There I go again! Showing my political stupidity. It slips now and then.
Dad missed a doe yesterday. I was bummed. At 83, I'd like to see him pop one. He had that old 32WS Trapper I built for him back in 1990.
I jumped a couple Tuesday. I'd guess a buck and a doe, but I never saw them.

Hard luck missing the doe, how long is your season up in Maine? We seem to have much longer seasons over here and no bag limits but you do have to have permission to shoot from the landowner, no public land over here.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
Firearms season runs from the 1st if November till the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Of course, there is 2 more weeks of muzzle loader season. Bow season runs for a month before regular firearms, but you can also use crossbows.
I only hunt through regular firearms. My dad has done some muzzle loader, but I don't. After a month, I've usually had enough.

I've shot muzzle loaders, but very little. I'm afraid ill like it and then there would be a whole other thing I would have to mess with.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
Yes there's a lot to mess with when it comes to muzzleloaders. If I had never experienced the convenience of cartridge firing breech loaders I would be happy to only own and hunt with muzzleloaders they certainly are more of a challenge but I love 'em....
Too much technology can make you soft....
Woke up this morning to 2" of wet snow and still falling but I doubt it will last long. My last muzzleloading 12 gauge sadly I had to let it go.

That's a pretty one!
We really haven't had any snow yet. It's been unseasonably warm and dry this month. They are saying snow next week, but I hope not. I don't really want a lot of rain either. I'd like to get some wood cut and some work done at camp. This weather has been perfect for it.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
That's pretty typical for New Mexico as well. Albuquerque is by far the largest city in the state and the relatively rare times it snows, people freak out, have no idea how to drive in it. Good for the body shops and insurance companies. Plus, the kids get out in their 4 wheel drives and figure they can drive at least twice as fast as everyone else. They're the first ones to crash.
Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
Hey Walt!
My son said that about Kodiak. He said all the southern kids come up there for a duty station, buy a 4wd, and then try to drive like they are on dry tar.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
I have a snowblower but I really don't need to use it very often, maybe half a dozen times per winter. It's a Craftmen with a 110V electric start which I think is an excellent feature. The biggest downside is that when the temperature is too warm and the snow is really wet, the chute gets plugged up and it's hard to clear. I have tried spraying it down with silicone or WD-40 before I get started but that only lasts a little while before it plugs up again. I should try putting car wax on it....might stay slick a bit longer.
Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
The old single stage blowers were the best. You could blow straight water with those suckers. Until the nanny state took over. The best one I've found now is Honda. I have a 928 Honda I've had since 2011. They will blow wet snow pretty good. We have another one from the late 80s we bought used. It isn't pretty but it still runs. Only downside is they suck to work on.
Dad has a newer Husqvarna but it isn't very good. It doesn't like wet snow either. If I didn't have a Honda, probably the next best is Ariens, but I've never had one.

We got a dusting last night too. It's just a few degrees below freezing so it'll be gone in an hour or two. Forecast cast calls for dry weather for the next week or so. I hope the wind stays down...it's been really windy the past few days.

Re: Chairmen of the Politically Incorrect
I expect a bit more over the next couple of months, being as it's my first Winter this far north it will be interesting to see what mother nature throws at us. When I was a kid growing up in the Midlands we seemed to have lots of snow back then and also when I lived near the Welsh border but 30 years in the south of England I rarely had enough snow to even build a snowman.
