Some Useful (and maybe some [k]not) Knots...

A couple here I may want to learn.

The best knots are ones you can UN-tie without having to use a knot-pick.

If it is not a pick, then what is it?

I use some of those quite often. The eye splice is one I should learn.

Technically the eye splice isn’t a knot. I’d replace it in the list with a clove hitch. And the hasty harness isn’t. You could probably lower three people using a diaper sling an a half hitch in the time it takes to tie the hasty.

That combination works great with unconscious folks.

And they missed the absolutely essential bowline.

yeah, if you aren't using the bowline, you do knot know knuthing about knots . . .

as far as splices go, I've stopped eye-splicing my dock lines, using a bowline to form the eye because I can untie the loop and undock regardless of how many other lines are on the cleat or bollard.

to join two lines together I use a sheet bend rather than two eye splices for the same reason . . .

just sayin . . . . .

mariners know that maritime terminology is very explicit for very good reasons, to include names on a chart, such as bay, cove, sound, inlet, etc. knot synonyms. Blaine?
