I picked up a bunch of 307 ammo on Gunbroker recently. Received it today & I noticed one round sat
lower in the box than the others. Look what I found! I have heard of such occurances, but it's a first for me.

Hmmm... A wadcutter. Don't know why you couldn't shoot it...

2ndovc, is the base of your bullet jacketed too?
Basswrangler, I think the bullet is seated backwards/upside down. I may pull it, check out the powder type & charge weight, then seat it sunny side up.

No, it's exposed lead. I had another picture of the base but i deleted it for some reason.

A friend of mine that lives in Montana, does that very thing to a few of his 30/30 Winchester 170 grain loads. He uses them for small game at under 25 yards. By the way, they work absolutely wonderful... kill quickly and tear up ZERO edible meat. Just like they say, eat right up to the bullet hole. However if it's from the factory instead of a reload, it's a goof up. My .02 $. Thanks, Tom
CBinNH,
If you sent a pic to Olin, maybe they would send you some free ammunition.
The factories do make mistakes from time to time. Several years ago a friend of mine bought some .30-30 ammunition and when he opened the box, the cartridges were head stamped .25-35 They were .30-30's in .25-35 headstamped cases.

That's what it looked like to me. Run through the finishing swager upside down.

That brings to mind a story I read years ago. Capstick I think. There was an elephant terrorizing them at night, around a campfire. All they had was a small bore rifle, so they pulled a bullet, and stuck it back in the case upsidedown, and killed it. The bullet acted like a solid.
