I've been looking for a Marlin 1894C for the longest time, then at SHOT show Marlin says they're going to start making them again, YEA! Then a few days ago Remington announces they're going into bankruptcy. What's a guy to do?

Rossi's now have a 1:18 twist, so does Henry. Ruger side levers look like the only choice.

Get one if you can but the Rossis and Browning 1892s are good, too.

Every Rossi 92 ever made had the 1:30" twist, regardless of chambering.

I would have thought the faster twist of the Marlin would handle heavy bullets better.

Rusty my friend I have a Rossi 92 .357 SRC that was slicked up with the help of Steve's video. I put a Williams 5D on it and it is much more accurate than I am. I have loaded and shot some 178 grain bullets from it and they are very accurate, a real good load. I think it would be fine for your big hogs or the north Florida bear.

Thank you Jerry, I appreciate your input. I've always like the Rossi's in fact Jr. has one in .44 mag. I can't help but think that the '92 design would have to be smoother than a Marlin. That Williams 5D would be an absolute necessity for me. My eyes won't focus on a rear notch sight any more.

Rusty if you could find one I know that you would carry it just like a handgun every where you go. They are really hard to find !!!

Yes sir, I'm finding that out. .44 Mag and .45 L.C. are a dime a dozen but if you're looking for a .357, it's easier to find an honest politician.

Rusty, the .357 carbine is just like my old 1892 32-20. They are just a lot of fun, I have a light, middle and hot load for the 32wcf. Then for the 92 .357 has different .38spl. light, medium and heavy loads and then all of the different .357 loads, like I said any thing from fun to plumb out right serious.

Rusty, I like and carry my Marlin 1894 .44 Mag but the Rossi 92 in .45 gets lots of trail time walking the dog in BIG Cat country for comfort. My wife's .357 Rossi reworked by Steve is her favorite rifle for off-road rides with her .357 Blackhawk. A hard choice normal answer, get them both as you find them.

I think they used to be 1:16. Or they put some out with different twists at times.

I have rossi 92s in 357 and 44 mag.
Ive found them to be perfect when working my way through the thick brush of south east Kentucky, especially the 16" models.

I have an older Rossi 92 20" .357. While there is certainly nothing wrong with the 94 Marlin, to me, nothing carries and handles like a 92. Even with my original Winchesters, the 92 is my favorite.

I read somewhere yesterday they have arranged financing through the bankruptcy process and their lenders are prepared to take ownership of the company. You should be able to order your 1894C. The CB in .45 I handled recently appeared to be well made.

I think you're right about the quality control, they seem to have gotten that under control. I think it was a problem at first after the take over but some how it got fixed.
