Just wondering what I got myself into with the purchase of one of these . I load for everything I shoot except 22RF. I realize that I can not expect to equal the Leverevolution factory loads and wondered if I should be content with those for a while or go for broke and get dies and all that is neccesary to load for this new toy? I would also like to know if anyone has some real hunting experience with this round? I know that it should really duplicate 300 Savage results but I have never hunted with a 300 Savage either. What should I expect on smallish deer? Will this new toy cause my other leverguns to revolt? What will it do that my 35,358 41mag,45/70 will not do?

I luv my 308 MX and 308 MXLR. With factory loads in my rifles I get SUBMOA groups. The rifles are designed for the factory ammo to accurately reach 400 yards and "spank" a deer (If the shooter can shoot it !).Expect to mount optics for long range hunting. Here's a linkhttp://www.marlinowners.com/forums/inde ... board=60.0to the Marlin Owners forum posts for the 308 Marlin Express.

I been shooting mine with Remington bulk 150 grain core locs over H335 & its a sweet shooter. I havent even fiddled with the load yet since starting loads shot nicely. Figured I'll just shoot it & get used to the rifle. These starting loads were averaging 2450fps from my 308MX 22" barrel. Never chronied the factory stuff. I shot a box thru it when I first got it & probably never will again.
I like it & might just shoot a bear with it in August.

i used to have a .307 win and it hit as hard as a .308wcf at moderate ranges that i used it at. seemed that way to me anyway. i think the marlin is ballistically pretty much the same as the .307. it should be a great lever round, as long as people buy it and the factories support it. this didn't happen to the .307;and it was a shame.
