Aw heck Pitchy, I have been snowed on the first day of summer! I used to fish a few high mountain lakes and we got chased off a lake by snow.
I'd say just be happy you are getting 3" in April- if it was October you'd know you were in for A LOT MORE!

Ya I know it was just kinda a shock after being 54 and sunny yesterday.
Drained the pond yesterday for spring cleaning, that and it has a leak somewhere so gotta fix that.
Good day to make a fire in the shop and build something.
Stay dry MM, jeepnik hope you get a sun burn.

This old hide is pretty much immune to the sun. Working outside most of my life, and enjoying the outdoors for all of my life has me pretty much well toasted already.

Lucky man... I went to the dermatologist last week... Burned and scraped til I was raw and blistered... Doc said, "I'll see ya in 4 months... Retirement Program." Nice to addressed by my first & last names!

There is a fine line between hobby & obsession! AND... I'm over it!!
No I ain't ready, but let's do it anyway!
Pitch, sorry for the late snow. We have had an extreme winter here -- extremely wet. Farmers have not had a 4-5 day warm dry break yet and many have been unable to get into their fields, and it is almost May. Much of the Northwest is at 150 percent of normal precipitation. Can you say, "mud"?
Up until '86, we used too always get 2 big snowstorms here in April, I bought a 4x4 pickup in March of 1986 and April was warm and dry that year.

Global warming...
How true!
Science has proven that the planet warms and cools naturally so get ready for the next ice age.
But on the other hand, the sun will burn out in another 4 billion years so...
Or it could supernova in the next second. We'd get a few minutes warning but what difference would that make.
And just how did they figure out when the sun will burn out? Seriously, scientists often make WAG's and expect folks to take it as gospel.

By gum! I hope you're not sending that weather our way, Pitchy!
Kirk: An old geezer who loves the smell of freshly turned earth, old cedar rail fences, wood smoke, a crackling fireplace on a snowy evening, pristine wilderness lakes, the scent of
cedars and a magnificent Whitetail buck framed in the semi-buckhorn sights of a 120-year old Winchester. Blog: https://www.kirkdurston.com/
A WAG of 4 billion years could be a rough guesstimate but does it really matter?
The folks that do that kind of math know the physics better than I do!

Well Kirk if I did your going to get back at me the way it sounds, the wind is out of the north which dropped the temps 20-30 degrees and more rain, sleet and snow coming next few days.

It was in the upper forties here a couple of mornings ago. I was almost ready to grab a jacket. Some folks were wearing coats.

About 8 years ago we were staying in the MH at Tejas State park by Crocket and it got in the teens, water pipes froze up everywhere.

Weather this year has been stupid different! We're at over 45 inches of rainfall since Oct. 1st last year! Our normal for Oct.-Oct. is 38" annual rainfall! We keep breaking rainfall daily records, and snowfall at high elevations is almost 140% of normal!
But I remember back in the 1990's we were doing some high altitude work for the Bonneville Power Admin. and all work was supposed to be done between June 1st and Oct. 1st, to avoid getting caught in snow conditions. Can't remember how many times we got snowed on during that time frame, but it happened a lot! One site in Central Oregon we did in late June. It was 70 degrees about noon when it began to cloud up, and the temperature dropped like a rock! I was working in jeans and T shirt, and quickly put my sweatshirt and Carhardts on! Then it began to snow heavily, and before we could cover up things we had a foot of snow! Next morning we chained up to get up to the site in 2' of snow, and by noon it was all melted and I was back down to a T shirt!
I`ll freak some out and say, you`ll know by the changes of the seasons that I`m right at the door.
Saddle up boys we`re in for a heck of a ride.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammo. wheeeeee
