School Field Trip and Buffalo Rifles

Post by 20cows »

Our jr. high took all the 7th graders on a field trip today. I didn't go, but I heard of some good times.

They went to Fort Chadborn, between Abilene and San Angelo, Texas. This is an old abandoned frontier fort that is privately owned and operated. They had a life-sized steel buffalo set up at 600 yards. Anybody that wanted to try, got to shoot at it with a Sharps. I don't know the specific caliber or the load (like I said, I didn't get to go), but the principal told me he made a hit. So did several of the students

IS THAT COOL OR WHAT!!!!

I'm happy to read these accounts there are places where normal acceptable behavior exists. That would never happen here in the communist peoples republic of mexifornia the principal & students would be prosecuted and banned from owning or using any weapons for life.

Don't have many of those at the local level here and I don't think there'll be a great deal of attention paid to it.

I never had such a field trip in school. What a day that must have been!
