How 'bout this shooting!

Post by earlmck »

My California daughter is up visiting. We try to get out shooting at least once when she comes, and according to the weatherman this was the day. And it was: a little chilly but with almost no wind. Mostly we shot pistols 'cause I'm still pretending to have a wounded shoulder and am mostly shooting left-handed. I go to the shoulder doc on Thursday and I am quite sure he is going to tell me to get back at it. So I did cheat a little today and tried my little S&W 5-shooter with the right hand. Felt fine.

Daughter had never fired the 357 cartridge in a rifle before so I brought the Rossi for her to try. Here she prepares to give it a run --

Yep, she likes it!

I seldom have cause to brag about my shooting but I might take exception this once. When we checked out my shot I had not only got the ejected case in the air (yeah, I tried about 3 times before I caught it right) but when we looked close I had also got the shadow of the casing hitting her in the lip!

So how 'bout that shooting!

Oh yeah. Tin cans backlit in the snow, the Lyman peep and the green fiber-optic front sight -- seemed like she couldn't miss. Got a feeling I might lose this rifle next time she drives up and can haul loot home.

One of the few she can actually take back with her... maybe.

You might have to "transfer" it through an FFL for it to be "legal" there...

I have bunches of rifles, nifty pumps, cool levers, and this .357 Rossi with 24" Octagon barrel, Lyman receiver sight and green fiber optic front is the hands-down favorite among my kids and older grandkids. I would already have given this one away but I know I'd upset about 6 other of my favorite folks. I wonder if I can find a "deal" on a bulk purchase of these to hand out to the crew?

Glad you could get out Earl. Looks a bit chilly over there, but I'd swap some cold, crisp snow and blue sky for this knee-deep mud!
