.357 rifle - revolver combo

Post by crs »

This is my very first such combo, dating back to 1970 and it is still my favorite. Both guns have seen a lot of shooting and hunting.

S&W M19 Combat Magnum in a threepersons style, elkskin lined holster - it really babies the deep blue finish, but the rosewood grips are sort of on their own.
Winchester 1892 SRC converted to .357 mag with newly refinished Bishop walnut stocks.

Nice combo. I just have one question why did you take the saddel ring off.

I recon it got in the way of the aperture sight.

sweet combo. model 19 is one of my all time favorite double action revolvers. The 92 is perfect for the pistol cartridges. Can't wait to get mine from Steve. Very Very nice.

I used to shoot a Mod. 19 alot - and that is the one reason my first handgun purchase after turning 21 was a S&W mod. 586 in 357.

Ditto! I have my Dad's service revolver - a S&W Model 19 - from his days in the FBI (way back when they still used revolvers! :D ). Every time I go to qualify for a CCW, I use this gun. Part as a tribute to my father; part because I simply shoot it the most accurately of any handgun I own. Last time out, when getting my SC CCW, I shot a perfect score! :D

20cows - you are correct, the saddle ring got in the way of the receiver peep sight.

YK - I have two M19, one with a 4 inch and the one in the picture with a 6 inch barrel. However well I can shoot them, I use a S&W M39 for CC tests because here in Texas, if you qualify with a revolver, you can not carry a semi auto, but if you qualify with a semi auto, you can carry either.
