Hooray! Mom's got a new gun!
She saw a Henry Golden Boy in the rack at our local gun shop and decided she should have it (I agree!). So, we picked it up last night and took it to the range today to sight it in. Now, I'm not a big fan of buckhorn sights, but I will say the sights Henry puts on their rifles are pretty good. For buckhorn sights, that is. And she shot it pretty well too! But, she wants to use it for cowboy lever action rifle silhouette and I'm thinking that she would be better served with an aperture sight of some type. My problem is that I'm having palpitations about D & T'ing that purdy brass receiver! i was thinking maybe a tang sight? So, I'm looking for input here, does anyone have one, a tang/peep on their Golden Boy I mean? Recommendations?
Thanks!

You don't wanna hear from me. I got a pearl set into Milady's front sight blade on her blackhawk, and an 18k gold dot put onto the brass bead front sight of her rifle. They were easier for her eyes to make out in dim light, and will never tarnish, but if yours gets wind of that, you're in trouble!
They sure show up great when you sight down the bores, though!

p.s. I got my front sight done in sterling while I was at it. I couldn't see my front sight worth a ding niether, but now I can't miss it!
Oh, right, you asked about the rear sight, dincha?

Well, I took y'all's advice and let her figure it out. After she shot her first match with it she told me she was really happy with the rifle! "But," she said, "the sights suck!" So we went up to the gunsmith shop tonight and she told him what she didn't like. He showed her several options, and she REALLY liked the Marbles tang sight he had mounted on a 17 HMR Stevens Favorite, so we had him order one. She's restless now to get her gun back with the new sights! Can't wait for the next match!
