I finished my home made paper patch mold and cast a few bullets with it. Lots of pictures so I wrote an article with pictures and posted it on my web site.
Hope you enjoy it!

Re: Home Made Paper Patch Mold...DONE!
That's really cool that you did that on your own! I would agree that Buffalo Arms is an extremely valuable resource when getting into paper patching bullets. I played around with it in my 71/84 Mauser in 11mm and Buffalo arms had everything I needed, PP bullets, PP templates and the paper to give it a go all sized correctly. That being said, using smokeless powder, I could not get the bullets to shoot that accurately. I went back to grooved bullets and had a custom mold made so I could cast a harder alloy than the grooved BP bullets I used to purchase which were too soft and had the wrong type of lube so life is good now.
I might have to visit PPing bullets again in the future for another go. It was cool to see that paper blow out the barrel every shot!
Thanks for an interesting post.

That is way cool. I look forward to your range reports. Posts like this really make me wish I had a lathe and mill.

Pick up a used Smithy 3-1 machine on Craigs list. That is how I started. That machine taught me much about machining. And I sold it a few years later for more than I bought it for.
Once you have a lathe in the shop you'll wonder how you got along without it.
Here is a picture of a handgun and a rifle I built using that little Smithy Machine.

I updated the article to include how to convert a LEE lube groove mold to a Paper Patch mold.
