Christmas dinner?

Post by JReed »

Just curious what everyone had for Christmas dinner. We celebrated the birth of our Lord with venison tacos. Nothing fancy but oh so tasty

My wife and I just moved down to Kentucky so it was just us two this year. We had canned butter beans and frozen borito's. My sister and her husband are coming down tomorrow so will have our Christmas dinner on Saturday.

For Dad and I, I did a full turkey breast with REAL gravy, 2 russet potatoes and peas. No desert! Too full.
When my sister and family get in on Saturday, there will be turkey left overs for them naturally.

Seafood boil with shrimp and crab on Christmas eve, and lamb on Christmas day. A cow man once told me that the best use for a sheep was as a biodegradable gully plug, but you know the babies taste darned good when you cook them on the rare side. :D

A friend prepared elk tenderloin medallions, wrapped in bacon, served MR, with smashed potatoes & sauteed wild mushrooms... Indescribable cream pie for dessert..

Standing rib roast, roasted low and slow outside with oak for smoke, Yorkshire pudding with gravy, horseradish sauce on the side, brussel sprouts, string beans, roasted new potatoes, and for dessert, Christmas pudding with brandy butter hard sauce.

Merry Christmas to everyone, and a Happy New Year!

Pretty traditional, but a very small crowd-Christmas eve we had brisket with bread and dessert and miscellaneous snacks.

Christmas day it was just my mother and I and we had a traditional ham along with macaroni and cheese and miscellaneous vegetables, plus a cherry pie

It was a low profile and low impact Christmas to be sure, but I loved it and love spending time with the family that I got to spend time with

I have enough leftovers to keep a homeless shelter in business for 2 days and may just do that

Prime rib, corn, mashed taters and gravy washed down with ice cold milk at our home with just my immediate family. Slick meat sandwich's, hot corn casserole, dessert, and ice cold lemonade at two other larger family get togethers.

With the kids across the country, the Mrs & I fixed apple stuffed turkey, dressing, southern pecan candied yams, green bean casserole, pecan pie, and corn bread. It was good and we stuffed ourselves. And yes, I snuck a few bites to the dogs too; they were very thankful. ;)

Beef stew, garlic bread, candy, cookies. Several adult beverages to take the edge off the Christmas houseguests.
