For many years I have used the Marlin 336 in my avatar. I have killed a lot of deer and hogs with that gun. I never shot at anything past 150 yards with it and never fired it at a paper target past 150 yards. I wanted to see where it was at 200 yards so today I took it out.
I put my target at 200 hundred and held dead center and fired. Clean miss. I held the top of the target and fired. The round hit at the bottom of the paper. About 12" low at 200.
Then I decided to hold using the top wide part of the duplex as my aiming point. Like a German post. The round hit on the edge of the big orange square at 1 o'clock. The next round landed right by it. I went a little left and aimed a tiny bit lower. The next two shots landed side by side on the top of the little orange square.
Unbelievable! The gun is shooting less than an inch at 200 and by some miracle I can use the duplex to have a second aiming point dead on at 200. Thank you Jesus!

And to top it off, I was talking with the guy who was shooting next to me and complained about fuzziness of crosshairs now with my older eyes when looking through a conventionally mounted scope. He said just look over your glasses. Dang if he wasn't right.
But, the crosshairs on the scout scope on my lever are clear with my glasses on. A mighty good day at the range. That Marlin is the best $179 I ever spent. I am ready for the season to begin. The cool mornings are making my neck swell up.
