My first post ever but a lurker for years.i love this forum, the nicest gun lovers on the net.i got introduced to Paco Kelly as a writer when i stumbled on his book "Leverguns,An American Heritage"What a fine book!I have read the book fifty times at least until the book is in rough shape. But i always learn something new.my user name,Ernest Haycox, was a fine western writer from the old school:moral main characters who fought for good principals.I love all guns but the old ones make my knees weak.My wife understands my addiction but insists i pay the bills first.Drat!Anyway God bless you all and if you are ever in West Virginia stop om by for supper.

many thanks, guys!I have a meager "arsenal"right now.A Charter Arms 44,a Armaalite ar15,a Marlin308express and aMarlin 30-30 with no stock and in need of a barrel I paid 80 bucks for.I think I will send this to Marlin to be rebarreled.Oh and a 1943 Walther in mint condition.A world war 2 vet sold this to me.said he was one of the first to cross the Remagen bridge and got it from a dead german officer.I never much cared for Nazi guns so someday I might get rid of this one.The many guns I got rid of for lack of funds I hate to think about, young fellers-do not make this mistake! If I could buy 3 guns today it would be a Finn Mosin Nagant,a Winchester Model 92 and a M1 carbine.Course that is just todays list! Thanks again for the kind words.

Welcome to the fire! If you don't mind sharing about where in WV? I've lived in Elkins, Durbin, Bartow, Richwood, Marlinton, Huntersville and of course visited many of the places in between and around and east over the mountain to here in Staunton, VA. WV is a wonderful state with a lot of wonderful people. Glad to have you join us. :D
Sincerely,

Hobie

Hobie,I live near Romney,wv.,a place that changed hands 60 some times during the civil war,up north 40 miles south of Cumberland,Md.I"m originally from Harford County,Md.,a place where you could still feel the past from 200 years ago when I was growing up and a kid could carry a gun walking down the road without anybody thinking it was strange. Now it is a surburban, liberal hellhole. What a crime! And they are supposed to be the enviromentalists.i"ll post pictures next weekend when I figure it out,i"m a one fingered typist and my computer skills not much better.Again, many thanks!

Well Earnest,
I sent you a Private message asking you yer whereabouts I see Hobie got right to it. My wife had a cousin that was raised in Romney. I only met her one time, she was sent there to live at the school for the deaf when she was young so she could get training and ended up never leaving.
