Can of peaches and a late night walk by yourself, life is good at the moment.

Remember the scene in Big Jake when John Wayne was eating the canned peaches and the message about where to deliver the money was delivered by Richard Boone? I like canned peaches, and that scene in Big Jake is on of the few that I can remember from any movie where the character was eating them. Pitchy, if the Duke ate them in a movie, you are in good company. Now, that snow must be pretty cold and fairly well packed to hold your rifle that way.

Glad to hear that, Pitchy. I go out almost every night about 10 pm or so, just to savour the quietness of the night, talk to God a bit, and enjoy the stars if they are out. Sometimes, mist is rising down in the valley over the river, at the right time of the month the moon is rising. I find it very relaxing and therapeutic.

There was also a couple of great scenes where Tom Selleck is eating a can of peaches on "Monte Walsh." One of the better depictions of the cowboy life.
Thanks pards
I walked around about 20 acres last night, snow is pretty soft but it was +40 yesterday which firmed it up some.
Was just luck to come upon the bird markings, must of been an owl.
Had an old Coleman lantern that doesn`t throw light very far so seeing over about 30 yards is tough.
It was a good walk, something about stopping in the silence and dark that feels good.

I may go out looking for big foot tracks tonight, or see if there`s any Indian sign abouts.
I get a kick out of life and danger, I don`t think most people realize the severity of an attack until they're in it and if not ready fall victim to it.
Hell of a world really, and that is where training in all things is the best route to go.

My grandfather had a big Guernsey bull, affectionately called Peaches.
Nothing like a can of peaches to keep the body working properly, esp. after eating several meals of C-rations....
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

In real life may you be the bad butt that you claim to be on social media.
Every time I see a can of peaches it reminds me of that scene with the Duke in Big Jake, named my son after him in that role. I used to love late night walks when I lived in the country, carried a rifle mainly just as a companion. Now living in town, especially the part of town I live in, you'd better be packin' a sidearm, a long guns attracts the attention of the constabulary, against the two-legged polecats.
Thanks for the post Pitchy, reminded me of a better time and place. God bless you.

May your rifle always shoot straight, your mag never run dry, you always have one more round than you have adversaries, and your good mate always be there to watch your back.

I hope '14 goes smoother for you than '13......Looking forward to seeing you on your trip out here.....
