Be careful who you "talk guns" around...

Post by Old Ironsights »

You might have to take someone to the range... :D

I was at a meeting of one of the church boards I'm on and afterward got to talking Leverguns and shooting with one of the new members/board members.

As we're chatting about the 200yd range, this lady on the board pipes up...

"Are you talking about GUNS?" (we were in a church classroom)...

"Well... Yes..."

"I didn't know you were into guns! My (deceased) husband & I collected antique guns and I haven't been shooting since he died!"....

Well, I had never known her husband (died before I moved here) but it looks like I may have got a "twofer" for our rifle club.

And I get to help her catalogue her guns. 8) :D

So don't be afraid to talk shooting - no matter who might be around.

It would be nice to see her handling and shooting the guns, I bet there will
be a glint in her eye as the memories flow through her mind.

Good for you O.I. You probably made her day!

I frequently wear a belt buckle that simply states "Black powder Shooter" and the number of times I get into conversation with complete strangers about muzzle loading and shooting in general, is amazing, just because they saw my buckle.

Last summer I took the senior Pastor to the range and he had a blast, shooting not only some old Winchesters, but my Springfield Armory 'Loaded' 45 ACP. Now an assistant pastor has asked if I could take his son to the range. I told him as soon as the weather warms up I will (had another snow storm yesterday, but I'm sure spring is coming someday).

by the title, I thought the thread was going to go .... be careful who you talk guns to, because the information you give out, may be used to have somenne drop in on you to steal them from you. In her case, if it wasn't you stopping by, could be someone else who had less than honorable intentions. Its a shame that my mind went there. Anyway, well done. And congrats on your twofor.

Most of the members of the church I attend are NOT "gun people" :(

Thats how you do it. Good move. I was running my mouth at the post office a couple of years back. This lady heard me and a week later I had her husbands G-41--------------Sixgun

Good on Ya OI. I agree that she will be one happy lady, not only to have someone to go shooting with but also for the memories that it will bring back. God Bless you Sir!

Congradulations.

I started a new job in Dec. Some members of the team took me to play pool and down a few. Come to find out my Senior Boss is a trap shooter, and another member has had a 9mm that his dad gave him. He has never shot it.

Well the guy with the 9mm brought his 3 year old son over last Good Friday, and he played with my 3 year daughter while we went to the range. I had to guide him in the some of his movements and safety, but he had a good time. He saw my groups, and was like "you weren't kidding. you do shot pretty good" I just laughed and said "if you have shot that 9mm as much as I have you would shoot this good too"

So now he wants me to take him once a month to the range, and teach him how to use his firearm correctly.
