Why not? It's just a recurve bow in the horizontal position.

Hey great Buck with the cross bow
I can remember how noisy a deer could be on all those frozen leaves, as a kid
the buck fever would set in big time & more often than not my arrow would miss
or the deer would jump the string of my old Bear recurve

Doc,
I'll admit to unloading a clip or two at the range with that hold.
Not very effective but fun nonetheless

Joe, how ya making out with your new X-cal?
That buck makes a total of 3 deer to date with mine.
I hung it up for the year, saving my last doe tag for rifle season.
I'm going to do what Kirk just did, take one of the antique levers
out on a woods date.

Well buddy my X-Bow hunting did not go well. I shot a buck at 20 yards on opening day. The arrow looked clean but smelled a little like meat. I found a blood trail that was just drops. It started 75 yards away and lasted 75 yards. Then it started to rain. No deer. I am pretty sure I saw the deer on my camera photos a month later. Then, I had a spike and a one-horned deer with a huge antler at 20 yards for 20 minutes. But, a 13 pt whopper was standing off 50-55 yards away. I waited for the big buck but after 20 minutes he ran past and took the other two deer with him. Lastly, I figured out a big buck. After several days he came in at 30 yards. I shot and went to look. No blood, no arrow, no nothing. I sat back in the pop up blind to revisit what happened. I eventually saw that I had shot the window of the blind. 21 days of X-Bow hunting but no deer to show for it. It was fun though. Sorry to get off on a tangent on your thread. Congratulations on your nice buck!

Nath I got your Casternutt's swingin...
Here’s the details Nathster
Ground hunting, fanny on a log, back against a big o’l maple tree.
No cover sent, no buck lure, no special scent free clothing used.
8:00 in the morning, big doe quartering towards me.
Buck about 30 seconds behind her.
At about 20 yards. “thwack --- thwoop”
I put the bolt just behind his front shoulder.
Bolt exited just in front of the opposite side rear leg.
Blood covered bolt found half imbedded in the ground about 20’ behind the target exit.
Buck turned and went down hill about 70 yards. and piled up.
