I use them for some of my CAS/SASS loads, 44 Sp., 44WCF, 44 Mag.

I just completed loading 100 44 mags this morning with .430" 200 gr. RNFP's. The powder used; APP 3F.

They are a very good quality product. The lube is for both BP and smokless use.

As they are 20/1 and soft, do not push them as fast as say a hard-cast bullet like Oregon Trail or Meister.

My CAS/SASS load is a Lee Dipper 1.9CC = approx 25- 30 gr.. I use this for both 44 mag & 44WCF. The seated 200 gr. bullet is compressed about 1/16" or just a kiss on the powder.
No filler is required.
As your 38WCF case has the same case capacity as the 44WCF, this same load should work for you also.
This works for me.
I would use a hard-cast for hunting and maybe Hodgdon 777. Triple 7 is a hotter powder than BP or APP. A greater velocity will be the result. I would not use Triple 7 in a 73 Rifle with a hot load. Triple 7 must be reduced in volume to equal, BP, APP, or Pyrodex.

I think they would work great for a pistol, but with a brinnel hardness of 8-9 I think they would really tend to lead up a rifle barrel. Most CAS loads that I have seen have a brinnel hardness of 12.

I have shot a lot of soft factory and cast lead bullets from my revolver caliber lever guns. Nary a trace of lead.
The thing is make sure the bullet diameter is .001" to .002" over the barrel grove diameter.
