I've been on the road for most of February. Got home last week, but am still WAY behind. Hobie's been holdin' the fort quite well on his own and has been OKing obvious registrations. Now that I'm back I'm sorting through the spammers and non-obvious applications and deleting or OKing, as the case may be. Thanks for your patience. If you've put in a registration and your confirmation e-mail hasn't arrived yet, drop me a line with your user name included so I can look it up manually and OK it. There's a new wave of pseudo members (probably spammers) that look similar to a valid user. They're subtle in their deception and it takes a bit of time. We welcome all who are interested in the same things as the founders of the forum, but will tolerate NO spammers. Anyway, thanks for your patience and understanding. Any questions? Just drop me a line and we'll see what we can do. I'll be doing a batch each day, as time allows. So far have sorted 50 this morning of the 356 that were waiting in my inbox when I got home...

Paul's been gone so he doesn't know that I've either approved/activated or deleted/zapped and banned a couple three hundred new members. Lots of spammer activity which slows activations. It also takes away from posting time!

Actually, I did notice.

But a bunch of the weirdos are still in the memberlist. It's amazing the different tactics spammers use to try and get approved. What's with Albanians, anyway?

Anyway, I'll be batting cleanup over the next few days. It's amazing the traffic that this sight generates.

Paul,

I think Albanian is the top of the list of languages. Their auto registration can't pick English or Czech or whatever so, even if they did get activated they couldn't post... Deleting them seems to serve no purpose than to clean up the member list. I'm also banning the fake e-mail addies, are you doing that?
