Need info on a S# for Marlin 39 & Savage 1912

Post by WCF3030 »

The S# for the Marlin is 113** with no letter prefix.
The rifle looks old.

The S# for the Savage 1912 is 140**.

Thanks!

Can't help, with the Savage, but if this is Marlin Model 39 (NO "A") it was made during the 1922-1926 era. Marlin, like Winchester, just pulled a serial numbered receiver out of a bin and started assembling. They did not build/serial number sequentially. If this is a 39A it would be a first year of production.....1939.
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.
