New 32 Special 94 coming soon! Steel Lyman 66 value?

Post by Canuck Bob »

My first deal fell through but this one worked. A 1951 listed as NRA VG with a pristine bore. It has the steel Lyman 66 as well. A real important thing to me.

Anyone know what this Lyman value would be seperate from the rifle?

Congrats on the Winchester.

I've never paid more than $65.00 for a steel Lyman 66A. I'm kind of a stick in mud as I don't think they are worth more than 25% over the price of a brand new one. Of course when I bought mine they were no where as expensive as they are now.

There is a forum member that has one for sale in our classifies for nearly $200.00. :o  .
At that price I have a gold mine in my parts bin.

The all steel Lyman 66A is fairly common and can be found new in the $100 range. The fairly hard to find Lyman 56a will easily cost you about $200, on Ebay
I know a whole lot about very little and nothing about a whole lot.

FWIW, Methinks Shasta is owed an apology, since what he has in our classifieds is the rarer 56-A (FIFTY-six), with the longer crossarm for Model 1886's & 71's - and not the more common 66-A (Sixty-six), as David mentioned above.

Pete,

He has both the 66A and 56A in the classifieds. He's running two adds.

Hey guys, a thing is worth what two people agree it is worth.

I just needed an estimate to break down the rifle cost. Here in Canada many US suppliers won't shiip sights to us. I doubt a nice steel Lyman 66 would be available here often.

I 'm looking for my Winoku 92 but will go with a tang on it to cover the tang safety. I've been toying with the idea for awhile and that is the likely option. I don't mind the safety if the rifle stayed as is. But the 32-20 long barrel would suit a tang sight nicely, more of a target/plinker format for that rifle.

On working guns I always outfit with receiver sights.

I believe that's the exact same tang sight on my mdl 94 rifle.

The only thing had to do to it was countersink the rear mounting hole to get enough threads into the lower tang with a factory replacement screw. Other'n that, it

The only thing had to do to it was countersink the rear mounting hole to get enough threads into the lower tang with a factory replacement screw. Other'n that, it works perfectly. I've had mine for over 20 years. The only enhancement would be if the shaft were marked with graduations. Maybe the newer ones are.
