............. the wonderful sound of four 1,200-horsepower Wright Cyclone Model R-1820-97 engines singing in harmony .
I looked out my computer room window and saw the B17G; Aluminum Overcast just as she flew over my house. http://www.b17.org/
I know where me and my camera is going to be tomorrow.
Swollen and sore feet and all.

The Auld Ones are flying in prep for the Fourth I live next to McChord and Ft Lewis and regularly get entertained all year. I love it when the fighters are visiting and punch a few holes in the clouds.

I saw a B26 fly over last week. I found out later it was being used to fight a big wild fire in the next county.
Joe, I'm with you on the B17 being the favorite.
I had an uncle who was a waist gunner on one. They were shot down on their first mission (not an uncommon occurrence). He did make it home after the war's end.

I have .... well had an uncle who was said to have been a ball turret gunner or a ground crew member on B-17s during the war. Depends on who was telling the story. The only things I can say is he was a small man and was in the AAF. So I'm leaning on the ball turret gunner story.
I never got to talk to him about it though.
