Re: Rock Island auction
Never bought anything from them, but they are mucho legit. Been to their place in Moline. Bring a drool bucket. They did some impromptu antique valuations for me that were quite credible.

Re: Rock Island auction
I have gone and bid online with proxibid, with their auctions. I have yet, to outbid for anything. If your looking for something that you cannot find in your local gunshop, this can be another outlet to checkout. They seem to be quality folks, but as I said, top dollar seems to rule. They do have excellent photos and excellent explaination on most of the guns. The drawback, I see, is that they put in a range of suggested values with the descriptions,,,,that tends to lead them to greener pastures!

Re: Rock Island auction
I have lucked out and bought a few guns from them. Occasionally, some Winchesters do sell below estimate, but it's a crapshoot. Now, they send me all of their catalogs as if I'm gonna be a big time bidder. This time, no, everything I am interested in will sell for many $$$$$ over my meager capabilities.

I went thru "Proxibid" and bought my circa 1972 Marlin 1895 from an auction in Iowa ! Gun came with a nice same time period Weaver 2-7 and mounts .
The Proxi Bid added cost was about $45 on a $435 item .
But once I got everything it turned out I recieved the factory box as well as all the manuals , which was not said in the auction itself !
So "some times" you get lucky

Parkers , Mannlicher Schoenauer’s , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines !
Re: Rock Island auction
I just got the flyer in the mail for the Rock Island auction !
They have some very nice looking old Marlin's as well as some really nice singleshot/schuetzen rifles !
And of course we can't leave out the drillings and double shotguns !
